Our indoor environment

Our garden

There are a number of things about our nursery garden that make it a special place to play. It is spacious, with walls and fences to keep us secure softened by trees, shrubs and flowers with a clear view of the skies and beautiful architecture of the Victorian vicarage. We have a covered area providing shade from the sun or protection for those who don’t enjoy getting wet. Our artificial grass can be enjoyed all year round as a soft play area without turning into a mud bath. Our large flower beds provide us with plenty of investigative and experimental work as well as a constant supply of interesting soil for our mud kitchen. Our patio area is great for gross motor development, artistic play and mark-making through chalking pictures and writing letters and numbers. Our blankets enable us to sit together on a level and enjoy reading, tea parties, construction or just banter whereas we use our tables and benches for role play and small world play with farms, pirates, knights and castles, garages etc. We limit our wheeled equipment so as to encourage taking turns, to keep noise levels conducive to learning, and to engage all children in a variety of activities. We create obstacle races, pancake races, join together to play with a large parachute and build with large blocks. All this alongside painting our fences with glitter and water, water investigation with our pipes, funnels and tubes as well as slides for us, our balls and our model cars. And that is just the start!
